The league season is now moving into the final stretch, with just three or four matches left for most teams. The second team is almost certain to be promoted, while the third and fourth teams are part of a five-way battle for promotion. In the Derby league, our team continues to lead the way in Division 3.

Just a reminder that the club is now open on alternate Friday nights until the end of May. The dates are: 4 March; 1, 15, 29 April; and 13, 27 May. Details of events on these nights will be posted on the web site and announced at the club.
We will be holding a blitz tournament (five minutes each for all moves) this Friday (4 March). Entry is free to all members.Blitz chess is highly entertaining – blunders and sacrifices everywhere – so come along and join in the fun.
