These competitions are run in two phases: two jamboree-style rapidplay evenings in which each player plays two games, followed by semi-finals and finals played at normal time limits. In each competition, the top four teams from the rapidplay phase qualify for the semi-finals.
The Cup is for stronger teams; the Plate is for less strong sides.
West Nottingham A shared 2nd place after the rapidplay phase of the Cup and played Breadsall in the semi-final. West Nottingham B missed out on the semi-finals by ½ point.
West Nottingham A were eliminated on board count in the semi-final.
The Cup was won by Breadsall, who beat Chesterfield 2½–1½ in the final. Derby & Mickleover B beat Belper B 3½–½ to win the Plate.

Despite being heavily outgraded, WNA put up a strong fight. David and Daniel both made all the running in the drawn games, while Ian made use of a big time advantage gained in the opening to put the team one up. Unfortunately, Matt’s promising pawn sacrifices ran out of steam, leaving a 2–2 result and elimination on board count.
