Juniors impress at East Midlands Grand Prix

West Nottingham juniors were in fine form at the East Midlands Grand Prix, held at Nottingham High School on 2nd December.

As well as being an annual junior rapidplay for the region, this year it was also a qualifer for the London Junior Chess Championships.

Senith Gunarathne dominated the U14s, with a perfect 6/6. Sebastian Griffin-Young was second with 5pts. 

In the U12s, Dinuga Basnayake was 3rd with 4pts, just ahead of Aryan Nair who scored 3pts. Toby Brewster also took part, finishing with 1pt.

Robin Sykes won the U11s, unbeaten on 5.5pts.

In the U10s, Miheli Gunarathne was 3rd with 4pts.

In the U8s, Samuel Neaga was 4th with 3.5pts, and Nana Yuen scored 2.5pts.
