First places for Dinuga and Miheli at Nottingham Rapidplay

The Nottingham Rapidplay was held on Sunday 4th February at Nottingham High School

There was a record turnout of 178 players, competing in five sections.

Top results were by juniors Dinuga Basnayake, joint first in the Intermediate, and Miheli Gunarathne, joint first in the Improvers. Here are the positions of all our players, notably all juniors!

In the Open, Eldars Gulijevs scored 3pts out of 6. This was a strong Open, jointly won by GM Mark Hebden and IM Jonah Willow.

In the Major (U1900), Senith Gunarathne finished on 4/6 and won £30 as the best U1800 rating prize. Alexandra Arlachova scored 2.5pts.

In the Intermediate (U1700), Dinuga Basnayake was joint first with 5pts and won £87.50. Sebastian Griffin-Young scored 3.5pts and Aryan Nair 1.5pts.

In the Minor (U1500), Jonah Tomsett was best placed with 4pts while Dean Stapleton scored 3.5pts.

In the Improvers (U1300), Miheli Gunarathne was joint first, winning £150 and was unbeaten with 5.5/6. Artemijs Gulijevs scored 3pts and Samuel Neaga finished with 1pt.
