Jonah is County Champion again!

In a repeat of his efforts two years ago, Jonah Willow reclaimed the Notts County Championship and also secured the Junior Champion title for the third year running, held at Nottingham High School 17th-18th November.

In a low turnout due to other events, the Championship section only had 6 players so became a round-robin event. After a tricky first round Jonah ran away with the competition with a perfect 5/5. He also won £50 in prize money.

In the U155 section, Vidura Mendis was joint second with 3.5 and won £25, he was also the next best junior in the event.

In the U125, Arjuna Mendis was equal 4th on 3pts, and Alexandra Arlachova finished on 2.5.

As last year, there was a Sunday rapidplay tournament for U15s and U12s, which due to the numbers was merged. Joseph Hurst dominated the event with a perfect 5/5, becoming U15 and U12 Champion and winning £50.

Also playing from our club was Kian Chan, who finished 3rd on 3.5pts, Asta Knight on 2.5, Maksim Krasnov on 2 and Daniel Allsopp on 1.5.

All the results are on the NCA website: www.nottschess.org/2018_19/nottscc.php

Congratulations to Jonah on getting his name on the Silver Rook again, and well done to our other players!
