Equal second for Adi and Anita at Sheffield Rapidplay
Playing in the FIDE-rated event at Darnall and Handsworth Chess Club, our two juniors shared the spoils in the season opener on September 2nd.
They both scored 4.5 out of 6 in the Major (U170) and won £25.50 each. Adi lost just one game, to John Swain of Gambit, while Anita was unbeaten, including draws against the winner and the second seed: very consistent play.
Meanwhile in the Open, Jonah Willow was =10th with 3/6.
Finally, in the Intermediate (U145) both Hambel Willow and Armaan Gogia were =8th with 3.5/6.
This competition is in its second year but is already proving a good way to kick off the season and blow the cobwebs away, with the added bonus of being FIDE-rated, so look out for the FIDE ratings of the players on October 1st!
