Adi second in Terafinal, wins £1000!

In a fantastic result (and payday!) our own Adi Munshi overtook the top players bar one to win second in the UK Chess Challenge Terafinal, held at Daventry Court Hotel in August.

The only downside is that this was at the expense of Jonah Willow (4/6), whom Adi beat in the last round to secure the second place with 5/6.

The Terafinal was as usual hard-fought with lots of upsets, and the shortened timescale with 3 games a day could always lead to unexpected results. So well done to Adi, holding his nerve in difficult positions and showing great character and determination at the final hurdle.

Many other West Nottingham players were also at the event, playing in both the Terafinal and the Challengers sections.

In the Terafinal, Anita Somton scored 3.5, Hambel Willow 2.5, Lavanya Maladkar (who beat Cassie Graham in round 1) 2, and Daniel Chen 2.

In the Challengers, Ritika Maladkar finished on 3.5, Joseph Hurst 3, Oliver Drew 2, and Olivia Chen 1.

The event was run in a very professional way with computer pairings, all players on digital clocks and the use of incremental time controls, so good practice for the new season!

Congratulations to all the players, whatever your result just making it to the Terafinal is a fine achievement.
